It鈥檚 make or break for student midwives Ruby and Grace as they prepare for crucial exams. Mary is still finding her feet on the busy maternity ward.
Student midwives Ruby and Grace are in the all-important second year of their midwifery degree and at the end of the week face a crucial exam.
The pair are learning on the job and in the classroom but must also find time to study. For Grace this is particularly challenging as a single mother of two young children.
Mary, who is relatively new to Basildon University Hospital, is still finding her feet on the busy maternity ward. Today she鈥檚 on the antenatal and postnatal ward, and after a tough shift she catches up with a friend for moral support.
Ruby and Grace meet up for a study session ahead of their exam. Grace confides in Ruby that she failed her last exam, so there is even more at stake this time round. Grace鈥檚 studies have left her 拢70k in debt, which is only adding to the pressure.
Back on the ward, it鈥檚 time for Mary step up once and for all. She鈥檚 on the Delivery Suite looking after a woman who is expecting her second child. After breaking her waters, labour advances quickly and Mary has to think fast.
