Tonight, Soweto shares performance highlights from rising stars Knats, recorded at Cobalt Studios in Newcastle on Saturday 2nd May.
Knats are one of the UK鈥檚 most exciting new bands. They鈥檙e a quintet led by two lifelong best mates from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Stan Woodward (bass) and King David-Ike Elechi (drums), alongside their younger sidekick and virtuoso trumpeter, Ferg Kilsby. Their 鈥淕eordie Jazz鈥� sound combines blistering jazz fusion with drum 鈥榥鈥� bass style percussion, punk intensity and gritty spoken word poetry, and their debut album 鈥淎 Great Day in Newcastle鈥� is out now.
鈥楻ound Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
