Anita Rani’s East Coast Road Trip: The Naze

Anita continues her east coast road trip, visiting the Naze, a nature reserve on the Essex coast. She joins a group of fossil hunters on the lookout for remnants of the coast's fascinating past.

Anita continues her east coast road trip, visiting the Naze, a nature reserve on the Essex coast. Here, coastal erosion is particularly severe, with around 2 to 3 metres lost from the cliffs every year. But there are benefits to a crumbling coastline – it can reveal 55 million years of history. Anita joins a group of enthusiastic fossil hunters on the lookout for remnants of the coast's fascinating past. She also discovers what has been done to protect the area’s heritage and visits one of over a thousand brightly coloured beach huts overlooking the North Sea.

Along the way, Anita looks back through the Countryfile archives at the hidden histories found across our landscape.
