Elena Schwarz (conductor)
Alina Ibragimova (violin)

鈥楩lawless鈥 violinist and Proms regular Alina Ibragimova is back with one of the great Romantic concertos. It may have been seven years in the making, but there鈥檚 no sense of musical struggle in Mendelssohn鈥檚 Violin Concerto 鈥 only sparkling, lyrical invention and a fleet-footed 鈥榝airy music鈥 finale. Fairy tales are in the spotlight in Zimmermann鈥檚 evocative 1950 Fairy-Tale Suite, with its enchanted castle and propulsive forest ride. Bohemian folk dances and sunshine tug against a powerful undertow of melancholy in Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 passionate Symphony No. 7.
