Co-founder Atul Gawande makes the Radio 4 Appeal on behalf of Lifebox Foundation. The charity works with healthcare teams around the world to analyse risks to patients and provide solutions, like strengthening infection prevention, improving safety practices like checklists, or providing equipment.

The Radio 4 Appeal features a new charity every week.
Each appeal then runs on Radio 4 from Sunday 0754 for 7 days.

This capnograph, provided by Lifebox to Yekatit 12 Hospital, helps surgical teams to spot dangerous problems with a patient鈥檚 breathing during surgery before they become life-threatening. Many hospitals still lack access to this equipment and training.
