with Zara Janjua
Monica Dolan on her latest film 'The Lost Children of Tuam', P谩draig 脫 Tuama shares his new poetry collection, and this week's This Spiritual Life guest, Tom Read Wilson.
Zara chats with poet, theologian and broadcaster P谩draig 脫 Tuama about his new poetry collection, Love Between Men which explores the complex relationship between sexuality and faith. Drawing on personal memories, family stories, Irish history and religious tradition, he reflects on the pain and beauty of religion through a queer lens and considers how the poems grew beyond his original intentions.
Reporter Catrina Rose speaks to actress Monica Dolan about her role as amateur historian Catherine Corless in The Lost Children of Tuam, a film telling the story of the discovery of a tragic chapter in Ireland's history. Corless's research into the former Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home in County Galway uncovered 796 death certificates for children and babies without corresponding burial records. Monica reflects on what struck her most about Catherine and her search for answers.
Television presenter, actor and reality TV personality Tom Read Wilson shares his Spiritual Life with Zara, reflecting on his childhood, sexuality and how his life has been shaped by both his love of language and the theatre. They discuss the role faith played in coming to terms with his sexuality, Tom鈥檚 connection with nature during his time on I鈥檓 A Celebrity and the joy that can be found in tiny Scots words.
For this week鈥檚 Faith Forum panel, Zara is joined by: Daisy Andoh Cunnel, Talat Yaqoob, and Allen Kerr.
With social care in the headlines, the panel explores what good care looks like and who should be responsible for an ageing population. They also consider the issue of loneliness, care and autonomy in later life, and whether compassion should ever come with conditions.
As Harvest Festival begins, the panel reflects on how well we recognise what sustains us, our connection with nature and whether gratitude means something different for people of faith and those without religious belief. They also explore whether having plenty brings a responsibility to share.
Inspired by a pet blessing service at Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, the panel explores why animals and pets hold such an important place in our lives. They also consider what different faith traditions teach about the value of animals and our responsibilities towards them.
And with the 麻豆社 marks 50 years of Saturday children's television, the panel looks back at the programmes and memorable moments that shaped their childhoods.
