In the second week of the heats, a fresh group of professional chefs wait in the wings of the kitchen ready to demonstrate their exceptional talent. All six are committed to their goal of securing a place in the quarter-final, but two huge challenges stand in their way.
The competition gets underway with the skills test, but this time the chefs must cook side by side. Monica challenges them to create a technically demanding artichoke tarte tatin, testing their precision, timing and ability to keep their cool under pressure. For some, its unfamiliar territory, and they鈥檒l need to think on their feet to avoid coming unstuck. Others draw on their experience to rise to the challenge, but who will turn out a dish worthy of the pass?
Next up, the signature dish round, where the six contestants must showcase their individual culinary identity, combining exceptional flavour with the technical mastery and finesse expected of a professional chef. They may have honed their dishes in the familiarity of their own kitchens, but delivering them to the highest standard under the intense pressure of the MasterChef kitchen is an altogether different challenge.
Marcus and Monica face the difficult task of deciding who has done enough to progress, and for one chef ambition threatens to overwhelm their dish. The judges are looking for refinement as much as flair, but sometimes less really is more. Only those who can marry ambition with precision will secure their place in the competition.
