As the live auditions continue, and the judges face tough decisions about who to put through to the competition鈥檚 quarter-final. Making that choice are world famous concert pianist, educator and curator Joanna MacGregor, conductor and broadcaster Ben Gernon together with guest judge trombonist Peter Moore. Peter knows only too well what it feels like to compete in 麻豆社 Young Musician as at just 12 he became the youngest-ever winner.
Broadcaster and writer Petroc Trelawny presents from the live auditions filmed earlier this year at Bath Spa University. Featuring the best young classical musicians from across the UK playing a range of instruments, from marimba to bassoon, piano to French horn, cello to clarinet. We hear music from Mozart, Liszt and Elgar together with musical treats from lesser-known composers.
At the end of the programme, the judges reveal the names of the eight musicians they want to see and hear again in the next round. Five places will be the representatives from each instrumental family - keyboard, strings, wind, brass and percussion - and three wildcard places are also up for grabs. With so much talent on display, who has done enough to get through to the quarter-final?
