Bioacoustics technology and AI have allowed scientists to not only decode complex animal sound data but also begin communicating with animals. While this may mean the salvation of countless animal species, the advent of inter-species communication could also have far-reaching risks for the ecosystem.

In her quest to learn about the current state of animal communication, Professor Hannah Fry travels across the world, meeting Cash the talking dog in California and deciphering elephant rumbles in Nairobi. She looks into the question of whether the emerging ability to communicate with animals is one that should be exploited.
