Are we ready to tackle a pandemic?
There is growing concern about one of the newest emerging infections, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS. A much older disease, tuberculosis, is seeing a global resurgence because of the rise of new strains resistant to drug treatment. And then, of course, there is the biggest pandemic of our age, HIV/AIDS, which has affected tens of millions. Despite this experts warn that the impact of disease still fails to generate the response from policymakers that it should. Mike Wooldridge reports.
