Salif Diao shares his thoughts on the importance of the Africa Cup of Nations for African players. The former Liverpool and Stoke midfielder told Caroline Barker that AFCON "is a different world" and that "people don't realise how important it is" when it comes to clubs allowing players to represent their nation.

The Senegalese midfielder was passionate about the power football has in Africa saying in "a nation may be shredded to pieces by religion or because of different wars... but it's only football that can reunite a country."
