A council leader is calling for a change in the law after one of his councillors announced he's moving to America, but will not be giving up his seat.
The 麻豆社 has been unable to contact him, but he told his local newspaper in Suffolk that while effectively "retiring" when he moves to America, he would fly back to the UK "every six or seven weeks" and doesn't feel like he will ever retire completely.
Mark Bee is a fellow Conservative and the Leader of Suffolk County Council, he told 5Live "鈥渨e find the whole thing absolutely unbelievable鈥
鈥渢echnically he can only attend one meeting every six months in order to fulfil his requirement as a councillor though clearly we expect councillors to do a lot more than that鈥, he said adding 鈥渨hat councillor Riley is relying on, is that he owns property in Suffolk and that entitles him to see out his term, the final two years of his term ..... but what we would possibly see coming out of this is a review of the law鈥
