Baptism
Christians use water to baptise people. It is a symbol of 鈥榗oming clean to God鈥.
Baptism as a baby is common for Anglicans and Catholics. Baptists and some other free Churches don鈥檛 baptise people until they are believers in Jesus for themselves, usually a little older than our viewers. It is a dramatic symbol of starting a new life as a Christian. At Ben鈥檚 church 鈥 he is 12 鈥 the congregation sing 鈥業 have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.鈥
Ben describes how he felt that God wanted him to make a public statement of his desire to be a Christian, and get baptised by his own choice. As people are lowered under water, the minister says: 鈥淥n confession of your faith we baptise you now in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit鈥 鈥 this Christian way of describing God is called the Trinity. Ben says 鈥業 feel different, new, great: l loved it!鈥
The artistic image of the baptism of Jesus is by Chinese Christian artist He Qi.
