Gillespie on England Job: ’I had nothing to lose and everything to gain’

Jason Gillespie says he was ā€œflatteredā€ to be considered for England’s head coach role.

Speaking to Phil Tufnell, Michael Vaughan and Mark Chapman, the former Aussie cricketer said: ā€œFrom a personal point of view I saw it as a massive positive. I was flattered to be thought of highly enough to be spoken about in that role. I saw it as a win-win.ā€

ā€œI never felt for one minute I had anything to lose. I had everything to gain.ā€

When asked whether Kevin Pietersen was raised an issue, Gillespie replied: ā€œNo it wasn’t. The stance was made very clear over what was going to happen. Categorically that wasn’t an issue.ā€

But the big question: England or Australia to win the Ashes?

The 40-year-old took his time before saying Australia.
