John Boorman says he once told Queen Elizabeth II 鈥淚鈥檝e always been against what you are, what you stand for but you鈥檝e turned me around鈥.

The Queen and Country director described himself as an 鈥渁nti-royalist鈥 prior to the Queen鈥檚 visit to Ireland in 2011.

鈥淲hen the Queen came over to Ireland, where I live, she smiled all the time, she was quite extraordinary,鈥 said Boorman. 鈥淪he actually won me over. I told her that.鈥

鈥淲hen I met her I said I鈥檝e always been against what you are, what you stand for, but I have to say you鈥檝e turned me around,鈥 he added.
