Darleys Perez: Boxing Bettered My Life
In 2014 Colombian boxer Darleys Perez took the vacant WBA lightweight belt but his journey to the top has been more perilous than any bout in the ring.
Perez told the 麻豆社's Azi Farni he started boxing because he wanted "to learn to defend" himself. But after starting to train he liked to sport more and more so took up boxing and gave up football permanently.
While Darleys watched his peers sign up to join the ranks of the local paramilitaries in Colombia he started to see boxing as "something to better my life, no hobby."
