Cameroon's Barthélémy Toguo on his art
Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo was recently invited to create a piece for the World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) festival in the UK.
The painter and sculptor – who is also currently showing at the Venice Biennale in Italy – put together an installation, called Water Dance, with colourful plastic buckets full of geraniums hanging from wooden poles.
Â鶹Éç Africa’s Manuel Toledo spoke to the artist but first he met the curator of WOMAD’s World of Art programme, Jeni Walwin, and asked her why they commissioned the piece.
