Is cricket really that English?
The game of cricket brings to mind images of English village greens and cucumber sandwiches. But could it have actually originated overseas in France?
The French village of Liettres is the site of the first written record of the game in 1478. It will be holding an "international cricket tournament" to highlight its part in the history of the game. Journalist John Lichfield spoke to Newsday about the story behind the French claim.
