Refugee crisis: 'Britain should do more'
Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Mawajdah has said that David Cameron's offer of taking 20,000 Syrian refugees over the next five years is not enough to "alleviate suffering".
Al-Mawajdah is a senior figure in Jordan's army and runs the department that looks after the settlement of refugees. Speaking at the Syrian border to 5 live reporter Nick Garnett he said:
"In Jordan we have more than 1.5million refugees - when somebody comes and says they want thousands, okay it's fine but this will not alleviate the suffering of these people and this will not lessen the burden on the Jordan government."
