Making a living out of rubbish
Imagine making a living sifting through garbage, looking for items to sell for recycling. That's the daily reality for a growing number of South Africans as the country's economy continues to stumble. The hawkers hit the streets of the wealthy suburbs at the crack of dawn, before the garbage trucks arrive, looking for any items than can be recycled. Charles Zulu is one of these hawkers who manages to eke out an existence in this way.
