Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said the government is seeking legally binding agreement with the EU in the ongoing renegotiation.

Speaking on the Today programme, he said they were looking for 鈥渂ankable鈥� promises from members on matters including regulation, national sovereignty and welfare that would be incorporated into EU treaties at 鈥渢he next available opportunity鈥�.

He told John Humphrys that the negotiations were 鈥済oing well鈥� and that they were determined to secure 鈥渟ubstantial, binding, irreversible鈥� change in the UK鈥檚 relationship with the EU.
