The surgeon helping the Vietnamese napalm victim
Kim Phuc was nine years old when the South Vietnamese army dropped napalm on her village in 1972. That picture of her running naked, crying in agony turned her into a living symbol of the Vietnam War. More than 40 years later, Kim Phuc is still suffering from the immense pains from the burns. But now with the help of Dr Jill Waibel of the Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute, she has a chance to heal. Newsday spoke to Dr Waibel in advance of the treatment.
