Transgender woman moved from male prison

The mother of a transgender woman who has been moved to a female prison has told 5 live "all is looking good" for her daughter.

Tara Hudson has been moved from a male prison to female HM Prison Eastwood Park after a judge said the decision to send her to a male one should be reconsidered.

Hudson, who's 26, has lived as a woman for all of her adult life and gone through gender reassignment surgery, but is still legally a man.

Jackie Brooklyn said her daughter "had a horrendous time in the male prison" and suffered verbal abuse from other inmates.

More than 140,000 people signed petitions calling for Hudson to be moved, with supporters claiming she had been placed in danger of sexual violence.

Hudson was jailed for 12 weeks and placed at the all-male HMP Bristol after admitting assault.
