'Embrace' scars, says burns victim taunted as 'worm hands'
A burns victim who faced taunts such as 鈥渨orm hands鈥 says people with disfigurements should 鈥渆mbrace鈥 the way they look.
Lucy Wilson from Derby suffered burns to her leg after she was scalded as a baby. She had four fingers and three toes amputated, and has since had more than 50 operations.
Growing up, Lucy, now 20, says bus drivers 鈥渨ouldn鈥檛 put change her hands鈥 and she was sometimes 鈥渇ollowed鈥 by people wanting to look at her scars.
The university student hopes by sharing her story, she can support other burns survivors who are 鈥渁fraid to go out鈥.
