Warner: Bach's Russia remark 'extraordinary'
UK Athletics chairman Ed Warner says comments made by Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, that he expects Russia to comply with regulations in time for athletes to compete in next year's Rio Olympics are 'extraordinary'.
The athletics federation of Russia has been provisionally suspended from international events after a report alleged "state-sponsored" doping.
Bach has said he is "confident" in the measures being put forward by the Russian Olympic Committee, and believes Russian athletics will resolve its doping issues in time to field competitors in Rio.
鈥淚 think Thomas Bach鈥檚 comments are quite extraordinary," said Warner.
"You can鈥檛 say how long it will take Russia to become compliant with the WADA code. It may take months, it may take years," he added.
