French-Lebanese musician Ibrahim Maalouf on jazz and Paris attacks
The Paris-based Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf has been receiving rave reviews over the last couple of years and played at the London Jazz Festival at the Barbican Centre this week. He nearly didn't make it to the gig as he was pulled off the train from Paris and questioned by police, following last week's attacks. His new album Kalthoum pays tribute to Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum. He took some time out to speak to Weekend.
