Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in South Africa to demand the resignation of president Jacob Zuma. Marchers from all races in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria said he'd damaged the governing ANC party and put his own interests ahead of the country's.

The main Shia group in Nigeria has said it will not cooperate with an official investigation into a military operation against three of its compounds in the northern city of Zaria at the weekend.
