K-9 on the curse of the Doctor's companion

The voice of Doctor Who character K-9, John Leeson, spoke to 麻豆社 5 live about the 'curse of the Doctor's assistant'.

Viewers had taken to social media after the Doctor's loyal assistant, Clara Oswald, died. Asked if he has sympathy when assistants suffer bad luck, Leeson said actors shouldn't be surprised as it's all predetermined: "The scripts are the trampoline on which all us actors bounce, so you know from the beginning if you're going to be elbowed out".

Explaining how he got the part on Doctor Who, Leeson told 5 live's Emma Barnett: "It was a bit of an accident, I'd worked with Derek Goodwin [...] I just happened to go to my local pub and there was Derek [...] he said 'have you ever watched Dr Who, well stand by your phone, there may be something for you'"
