Ashley Giles: My wife鈥檚 brain tumour changed my world

Former England cricketer Ashley Giles says his 鈥渨hole world鈥 changed after receiving the news of his wife鈥檚 brain tumour.

In December 2006, Stine Giles was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Giles had just been dropped for the third Test of the Ashes tour, and when he received the news from his wife he flew home immediately and never played for England again.

The tumour was successfully removed by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, yet the couple were devastated when in 2012 two more tumours were discovered.

Thanks to pioneering treatment, known as TomoTherapy, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham were again able to remove the tumours.

Ashley and Stine have since set up a charity called The Giles鈥 Trust which raises money for brain tumour research and support.
