McDonnell: Google tax deal ‘relatively trivial’
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell says the £130m Google tax deal struck by HMRC is "relatively trivial" for the company.
Speaking to the Today programme, he said that it “looked like another sweetheart deal” and called on HMRC and the Treasury to release details of the agreement.
He told presenter Sarah Montague that one analysis has put the tax rate paid by Google over the 10 years covered by the deal as three percent, “which I think is derisory”.
