Google agrees to pay back taxes of 拢130 million to the Government

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell and 麻豆社's Kamal Ahmed on Google 拢130m UK tax deal

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell said the 拢130m Google tax deal struck by HMRC is "relatively trivial" for the company.

Speaking to the Today programme, he said that it 鈥渓ooked like another sweetheart deal鈥 and called on HMRC and the Treasury to release details of the agreement.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell told presenter Sarah Montague that one analysis has put the tax rate paid by Google over the 10 years covered by the deal as three percent, 鈥渨hich I think is derisory鈥.

麻豆社's Economic Editor Kamal Ahmed said "Google is trying to get some first move advantage by getting this deal with HMRC"
