"The burden has to be shared more widely"
Representatives from seventy countries have gathered in London for a conference that seeks to raise nine-billion dollars for victims of the civil war in Syria. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, told Newsday that funds were needed not just for immediate relief, but also for refugees' long-term needs including education and jobs. He said the crisis was a global one, and the burden needed to be shared much more widely.
