One of the things that frustrates many people about the lack of electricity access in African countries is the huge amount of natural resources available across the Continent.

Gas, coal and oil exist in large quantities. But there is a huge push, often from international aid agencies, for African countries to leapfrog straight to low carbon sources of power such as wind and solar energy.

Newsday's Matt McGrath investigated this rush for green power with the former energy minister Grain Malunga, but first he spoke to the present holder of the office, Bright Msaka.
