Is there truth to the 'Africa rising' cliche?
Africa's economic performance since the turn of the millennium gave birth to the 'Africa rising' narrative.
But falling prices for key commodities such as oil and copper have resulted in struggling currencies and high unemployment.
There are also concerns about the amount of revenue lost through government tax breaks designed to attract foreign investment.
So is Africa still rising? Dr Carlos Lopes leads the UN's Economic Commission for Africa.
