Walking the Sahara on prosthetic legs
The Marathon des Sables is described as the 'toughest footrace on Earth' - a six-day journey across the Sahara Desert covering more than 240 km (150 miles). It's daunting enough for seasoned athletes, but imagine doing it with two prosthetic legs. Duncan Slater did - he lost both legs when he served in the RAF in Afghanistan - before succumbing to an injury on day four of the race.
