Yomi Sode - Johnny Just Come
Inspired by the Â鶹Éç 1Xtra ‘Words First’ season, which celebrates the growing art form of Spoken Word, Focus on Africa has commissioned three authors from the African diaspora in the UK to write poetry on the theme of migration.
In the first poem of our series, Nigerian-born writer Yomi Sode explores what it means to be a Nigerian living in the UK. The poem is called Johnny Just Come.
Warning: The author uses a word that some may find offensive.
