Warning on the Risk of Pollution in Africa
The United Nations says 7 million people around the world die from air pollution globally every year. In a report released to mark the start of the conference on environment in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, the UN also says efforts to fight air pollution are not sufficient. Most of the deaths are caused by household pollution from sources such as heat and cooking. This is particularly true where the use of stoves, charcoal and firewood - like in Africa - is widespread. One of those trying to change that is Atmospheric scientist Mat Evans.
