A new musical instrument has been invented to allow a professional musician, who is paralysed from the neck down, to finally 'attack' a note and bring true expression to his music: it's called The Hi Note. The Royal College of Music-educated trumpeter, Clarence Adoo MBE continues to perform and teach music after a car accident left him unable to play his first choice instrument in the mid-90s. Using his physical abilities to blow and move his head, he has collaborated with technologist, Vahakn Matossian, of Human Instruments to develop the Hi Note which will appear for the first time on a British stage, in Bristol in June.
He will perform with it as part of the The British Para-orchestra. Weekend spoke to Clarence Adoo about the instrument.
