Shazia Mirza: Muslims joining ISIS are 'sexualised'
Comic Shazia Mirza believes young Muslims are being drawn to so-called Islamic State through sexualisation, not through radicalisation.
Comic Shazia Mirza believes some young Muslims are drawn to so-called Islamic State through sexualisation, not radicalisation.
Her latest show "The Kardashians Made Me Do It", was inspired by the Bethnal Green school girls who left to join Islamic State.
Shazia Mirza says, "They're horny teenagers, name me one teenager that is more interested in religion than sex. I don't know one."
"And these are normal teenage girls. Just because they're Muslim, it doesn't mean they don't think about and want to have sex and think about boys. They think about it more than anyone 'cos they're more repressed."
"It's got nothing to do with religion or politics. What they do know is that these men are hot, these are the pin ups that ISIS put to advertise their campaign. And this is what is sold to these young girls. And when David Cameron goes on about radicalisation, I think he is barking up the wrong tree. I think it's a load of rubbish, I think it's sexualisation. These girls are being groomed on line by these men who promise them they're going to get married and live a great life, and it's all romance and adventure. They are the One Direction of Islam. They are popstars, pin-ups and sex symbols. They've been glamorised."
