Dog meat is still eaten as something of a delicacy in some parts of China. It is particularly valued in Yulin, in the country's south-west, where an annual two day dog meat festival is underway. Some 10,000 animals are expected to be slaughtered. But this year there has been an avalanche of protest from inside China. 11 million people have signed a petition against the festival. Newsday's Nkem Ifejika spoke to Fuchsia Dunlop, a food writer and an expert on Chinese food.
