The atomic bombs that fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the Second World War were made out of uranium extracted from the former Belgian Congo. In her new book called "Spies in the Congo, The Race for the Ore that Built the Atomic Bomb", author Susan Williams sheds new light on America's efforts to keep the Congolese ore away from Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
