Investigative reporter Matthew Drake explains how the Pakistan spot-fixing expose almost did not make it into the newspaper.

Members of the Pakistan team were shown to have taken part in a betting scam involving bowling deliberate no-balls during a Test against England at Lord’s in 2010.

However, a lack of cricket knowledge meant The News of the World came close to not publishing the story, and Drake says he had to convince his news editor they had enough evidence to run it.
