Theatre director, David Farr, who adapted hit 麻豆社 One series The Night Manager, which has received 12 Emmy nominations this week, said it was "exciting" to write the screenplay knowing that Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie would star in the series.

He said: "The producers were absolutely magnificent at going, 'Just write what you want to write. Send us here, send us there it doesn't matter.'"

The hit six-part series swept the board at the Emmys including nominations for Best Actor for Tom Hiddleston, alongside Best Supporting Actor and Actress nods for Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman. David, who is himself nominated for an award, added that he would not be involved in any possible second series, saying: "I'm not going to do anything else because I would be terribly nervous of doing something not as good."
