Man survives after impaling himself on spike railings
64 year-old David Buckle impaled himself on spike railings after falling 15 feet from a ladder in his garden. He was cutting ivy from a fir tree when the ladder he was on twisted, sending his 6ft 2.5ins frame on to the railings below.
David said: 鈥淚 was expecting soft landing because it was a laurel hedge, and I didn鈥檛 think for a second about the fence below the hedge. I landed at 45 degrees and my back was pierced, but I didn鈥檛 know at the time.鈥
David was pinned to the fence and but managed to call emergency services, and was swiftly rescued by Tewkesbury firefighters.
鈥淚 felt no pain whatsoever, which was a blessing because I was able to reach my phone and call 999. If I would have been screaming I don鈥檛 think I would have managed it.鈥
