MP: Obesity strategy favours advertisers
The Conservative Chair of the Health Select Committee, Dr Sarah Wollaston, says the government鈥檚 childhood obesity strategy puts the 鈥渋nterests of advertisers and marketers ahead of the interests of children鈥
The government plans include a tax on sugary drinks but has dropped proposals for a curb on junk food advertising.
The new strategy aims to reduce overall sugar content across a range of products, and to cut children鈥檚 sugar intake by 20% by 2020, and by 5% in the first year.
