A few weeks ago we brought you the story of Dion Leonard, a marathon runner who took part in a gruelling 250km race across China's Gobi desert where he formed an unlikely friendship with a dog.

They ran together for several days and crossed the finish line where they were both awarded a medal.

After naming his new best friend Gobi, Dion decided to adopt the terrier and bring him back to live in his home town of Edinburgh, but sadly Gobi escaped...

Dion told 5 live鈥檚 Phil Williams he had returned to China where he has launched a huge search operation to find Gobi.
