In 1838 Georgetown University in Washington DC sold 272 men, women and children to work on sugar plantations in Louisiana. Proceeds from the sale were used to clear some of the college's debt. In an effort to address its problematic involvement in the slave trade, the University has announced it will help the descendants of those slaves by facilitating their admission. Among the families who attended the announcement event at Georgetown was Karran Harper Royal. What does she make of the University's decision?
