Strikes would 'endanger patient safety'
Junior doctors in England are coming under increased pressure to call off a series of five-day strikes planned for the coming months.
The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges warned that the action could damage the NHS, while other professional bodies representing health workers have called for a resumption of negotiations.
Simon Paterson-Brown, head of the patient safety board of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, told Edward Stourton the strike could seriously damage patient care.
