UK Sport boss 'disturbed' by failure to ban Russia
The boss of UK Sport, Liz Nicholl, says she was ‘disturbed’ by the International Olympic Committee’s decision not to ban Russian athletes from the Rio Olympics.
The IOC decided in July to leave the decision on whether to ban Russian athletes to the individual sport federations, following a report which alleged state-sponsored doping at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The International Paralympic Committee has imposed a blanket ban on Russian competitors at the upcoming Paralympic Games in Rio.
In an interview with Wake Up To Money: Sports Edition, Liz Nicholl said she agreed with the International Paralympic Committee's decision and said that she found the IOC’s reaction ‘disappointing’.
