Cannibal film made cinema-goers pass out
Paramedics attended a screening of Raw at the Toronto International Film Festival after several audience members fainted.
The French film tells the story of a vegetarian veterinary student who slowly turns to cannibalism.
Colin Geddes, the festival's programmer, said the director was "happy" this had happened, as horror-film makers often consider incidents like this as "badges of honour".
He added: "This film is not just gore and violence for violence and gore's sake. It's actually a really interesting coming-of-age story. You might laugh, but what really affects people is that they are invested in the characters and then when these violent actions happen, it makes it all the more emotional and sometimes it's a little too much for people who are a little queasy."
